How long it really takes to get around Bali
The most common planning error on the island is trusting the map app's optimism. Distances in Bali are short and journeys are not: lanes built for villages, one coastal corridor, and traffic that rewrites any precise estimate. So this table refuses precise estimates. It gives ranges under normal daytime traffic, derived from road distance, and the honest warning that rush hour on the southern corridor, the Canggu lanes and wet season downpours can push any journey up a band.

How these ranges are made
Road distances between these places are stable facts; minutes are not. Each range reflects the distance by the usual road under normal daytime traffic. Nobody has verified a stopwatch time for every pair, so nobody should publish one, and we do not. Where geography makes the map lie, the range says so: Canggu's lanes make short distances long, and Lovina sits behind mountain passes that add a band to everything.
When to add a band
- The southern corridor, airport to Canggu, at rush hour and on wet season evenings.
- Ceremony days: processions own the road, and waiting is the only correct behaviour.
- The days around Nyepi, when the island stops entirely.
Built for the itineraries
Every plan in the itineraries counts moves with these ranges, which is why none of them promises three regions in a day.
