Five days in Bali, without pretending
Two bases and the discipline to stop there: the interior first, one coast second, and everything else left for the trip this one will convince you to book.
Five days is the length most itineraries lie about. The plans that promise four regions in five days are describing a road trip past Bali, not a stay in it. This one makes the opposite bet: two bases, one move, and depth over coverage.
The shape
Two nights inland in Ubud, then three around Uluwatu or, if waves matter less than dinners, Seminyak. One transfer, on the middle day.
Days 1 and 2: the interior
Arrive, transfer inland, sleep early. Day two is Ubud worked properly: terraces at Tegallalang before nine, the town in the middle hours, dance in the evening. One full day used well beats three half days spent parking.
Day 3: the move, plus one thing
Cross to the coast mid morning. The afternoon belongs to a single item, the kecak at sunset on the Uluwatu cliff, or nothing at all. Transfer days that promise more usually deliver less.
Days 4 and 5: the coast
A beach morning below the cliffs, a surf lesson if that has been the plan, and a last day with no schedule: the pool, the warung, the flight home. If a scooter enters the picture at any point, the paperwork questions are answered in the permit article and the insurance clause.
What this plan gives up
Almost everything, which is why it works: the east, the north, Nusa Penida, the volcano sunrise. Five days that accept this feel generous. Five days that refuse it are spent watching the island through a windscreen.
