November is the wet season arriving without an audience. The heat and humidity of the transition peak before the rains fully break them, the first proper storms sweep through, and the island runs at its emptiest alongside February.
What the month feels like
Heavy air, huge skies, sunsets that overperform, rain that means it when it comes. The landscape turns fast: brown edges vanish, rivers rise, the terraces flood and mirror. Photographers who can work with weather get more from November than from the postcard months.
Practicalities
Sea states pick up as the wind swings northwest, and the Nusa Penida crossing gets lumpier: travellers prone to seasickness should weight that. Surf begins its switch to the east coast. The west facing beach debris season starts as the monsoon establishes.
Who November suits
Budget travellers, returners who have done the dry season and want the island to themselves, and anyone for whom a reading afternoon on a covered terrace counts as holiday rather than failure. First timers with one shot at Bali should probably aim drier.
