Bali in June
Full dry season, the coolest stretch of the year begins, and the first wave of holiday crowds arrives late in the month.
June opens the high dry season. Days run reliably sunny, nights in the highlands turn genuinely cool, and the island fills progressively as Australian school holidays begin in the last week and Europe follows.
The weather at its best
June, July and August are the coolest months Bali has, which on a tropical island means pleasant rather than cold: dry air, breezes, evenings in Munduk or Bedugul that ask for a layer. This is the season the brochure photographs are taken in, and for once the brochure is accurate.
Reading the crowds
Early June still belongs to the May window; late June does not. Prices step up, the beach clubs of Canggu and Seminyak fill, and the Uluwatu lineups get competitive. Booking ahead starts mattering here and will keep mattering until September.
Who June suits
Families ahead of the peak fortnight, surfers wanting the west coast at full power, and highland walkers. Anyone allergic to crowds should take the first half of the month and treat the second as the start of the peak.
