Everything you must pay to enter Bali

Two of the most visible visa guides in this market, one in English and one in French, do not mention the tourist levy at all. A traveller who follows either of them arrives having paid one of the two charges due.

There are up to four obligations. Two cost money, two cost nothing and are still mandatory. To total them for your own trip length and party, use the visa cost calculator.

One of the two payments does not apply to everyone. Nineteen countries and territories, plus a class of Singapore residence-permit holders, enter for at most 30 days without buying a visa at all, under two instruments read on the visa-free list page. That entry cannot be extended. The levy and the two filings apply to them exactly as to everyone else.

The visa, in rupiah

PP No. 45 Tahun 2024, Lampiran angka III huruf B angka 1, sets the single-journey visit visa scale by duration. It is published in rupiah:

Almost every page on this subject quotes 35 US dollars. That figure is a conversion of the 30-day line, and it drifts with the exchange rate while the legal amount does not move at all. The scale itself, with six durations, we have not found published anywhere in the travel press.

Every line above is single entry, Visa Kunjungan as against the annex's Beberapa Kali Perjalanan, and the B1 page says it in words, untuk satu kali masuk. A traveller who does Bali, Singapore, Bali on the Rp 500,000 line buys a second visa on return. The same annex, at angka 2, prices multiple-journey visit visas separately: Rp 1,500,000 for 60 days, Rp 2,000,000 for 90, Rp 2,500,000 for 180, Rp 3,000,000 for one year, and up to Rp 15,000,000 for ten.

The levy follows a different clock. One payment is valid for the whole stay, until you leave Indonesian territory, under Perda 2/2025 Pasal 5(1): a side trip to Lombok or Java owes nothing more, a return from Singapore does.

The extension is charged at the stay permit line, Lampiran angka III huruf C: an izin tinggal kunjungan of up to 30 days is Rp 500,000 per application. Neither the annex nor immigration's B1 page attaches a figure to the word extension; the B1 page prints only the visa fee and a Rp 0 verification fee. The levy, and the regulation nobody cites

The Bali provincial portal states the levy at Rp 150,000 per person, and names its instrument: Perda No. 2 Tahun 2025, amending Perda No. 6 Tahun 2023 on the levy for international tourists.

That amendment matters. Pages that cite the 2023 regulation are citing the version that was amended in 2025. We have not yet read the amendment itself, so we do not know what it changed, and we are saying so rather than implying the 2023 text still governs.

The levy is provincial. It is not the visa, it is not paid to immigration, and paying one does nothing about the other.

The two free filings

The electronic arrival card and the customs declaration are both mandatory and both free, and since 1 September 2025 both are filed in the same place, allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id. The customs form's own page at ecd.beacukai.go.id says so in a banner: from that date every passenger and crew member bound for Indonesia files the Customs Declaration through the arrival card portal. The arrival card is compulsory for foreigners under Permenkumham 9/2024 Pasal 10, and immigration's release of 1 October 2025 extends it to "setiap penumpang yang tiba dari luar negeri", every passenger arriving from abroad (see the arrival card page). The customs obligation comes from Pasal 9 of PMK 203/PMK.04/2017, as amended by PMK 34/2025, which makes declaring what you carry a duty on every passenger and names the Customs Declaration as the written form, filed electronically at the latest on arrival. The amended ayat (3) lets a few classes declare orally instead, passengers over 60 and disabled passengers among them; the customs banner nonetheless addresses every passenger. Immigration's release of 31 August 2025 says filing is bebas biaya, free. The same app offers the Visa on Arrival for sale once the card is submitted: a separate, paid purchase, not a fee for the card.

Neither appears in most visa guides, which is how travellers end up filling them on a phone in the arrivals queue. Any site charging a fee to submit them is selling you something the state provides at no cost.

What we could not establish

• Whether the visa tariff is payable in dollars at the counter in practice, and
• at which rate. The regulation sets rupiah.
