What do you have to pay to enter Bali?
Two payments and two free filings. A visit visa at Rp 500,000 for up to 30 days, the Bali tourist levy at Rp 150,000, plus the arrival card and the customs declaration, which cost nothing but are mandatory.

Two of the most visible visa guides in this market, one in English and one in French, do not mention the tourist levy at all. A traveller who follows either of them arrives having paid one of the two charges due.
There are four obligations. Two cost money, two cost nothing and are still mandatory.
The visa, in rupiah
PP No. 45 Tahun 2024, Lampiran huruf B, sets the whole visit visa scale by duration. It is published in rupiah:

Almost every page on this subject quotes 35 US dollars. That figure is a conversion of the 30-day line, and it drifts with the exchange rate while the legal amount does not move at all. The scale itself, with six durations, we have not found published anywhere in the travel press.
The same regulation prices the extension under Lampiran huruf C: a stay permit extension of up to 30 days is Rp 500,000, the same as the original.
The levy, and the regulation nobody cites
The Bali provincial portal states the levy at Rp 150,000 per person, and names its instrument: Perda No. 2 Tahun 2025, amending Perda No. 6 Tahun 2023 on the levy for international tourists.
That amendment matters. Pages that cite the 2023 regulation are citing the version that was amended in 2025. We have not yet read the amendment itself, so we do not know what it changed, and we are saying so rather than implying the 2023 text still governs.
The levy is provincial. It is not the visa, it is not paid to immigration, and paying one does nothing about the other.
The two free filings
The electronic arrival card, on allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id, and the customs declaration, on ecd.beacukai.go.id, are both mandatory and both free. We reached both portals directly.
Neither appears in most visa guides, which is how travellers end up filling them on a phone in the arrivals queue. Any site charging a fee to submit them is selling you something the state provides at no cost.

An amount without a survey date is worthless. These carry theirs.

- Is the Bali tourist levy the same thing as the visa?
- No. They are separate payments to separate authorities. The visa is a national immigration fee set by government regulation. The levy is a provincial charge created by Bali under its own regional regulation, and it is paid to the province, not to immigration.
- Do children pay the tourist levy?
- The provincial portal presents the levy as applying to international tourists without an age carve-out on its front page, and offers a separate exemption application route. We have not read the exemption criteria at source and will not guess at them.
- How much is the visa really?
- Rp 500,000 for up to 30 days, per the tariff regulation. Pages quoting 35 US dollars are converting that figure. The regulation sets it in rupiah, so the dollar equivalent moves with the exchange rate while the legal amount does not.
- Are the arrival card and customs declaration free?
- Both official portals are reachable and neither charges for filing. Any site asking you to pay to submit them is charging for something the state provides at no cost.
